About this deal

Ellusionist, by way of magician Adam Wilber, introduced the original Pyro open-palm fireball shooter around this time last year.

If you're using this with a small camp fire, then it is a mute point, or I also suppose it would not be an issue if you have sherpas carrying an unlimited fuel supply for your use. The trouble with that is that batteries die and finding a sustainable way to replenish them when off the grid is tricky at best. The main thing that separates FlameStower from others on the market is the fact that it will work with any open flame. The Flamestower does not always charge this slow, but I could find no rhyme or reason to it; it seemed randomly it would come back closer to its nominal range of 5vDC at 2. When a device would seemingly and randomly stop charging, this was due to the voltage regulator bogging down or collapsing and was verified with a multimeter. Learning and sharing information to aid in emergency preparedness as it relates to both natural and man-made disasters. To put that into real numbers, the FlameStower has a maximum output of ~2-3 watts while your wall charger (iPhone) is 5 watts.

I like it but one of the items I wanted to charge needs more than 3 volts output (input to device) to charge. however its not very good for using to burn material for heat or recreation like a regular fire does, which is where this item would do better im thinking. If it charges at full USB rate then thats pretty good, im not sure how that compares to a biolite, which i have and think is great, i think both items are somewhat comparable, but are different enough that both could be bought, or one or the other depending on what someone's use is. an award winning and beautiful "sketch book-style" app that allows you to capture your ideas as sketches, diagrams, illustrations, notes or drawings and instantly share them across the web. The FlameStower consists of a folding metal stand, collapsible water reservoir, and protruding metal prong that slides into the flames of campfires, grills, or burners.

I have battery packs that I use and love but if I can save one of those for an emergency, I’m all about it. With no load (iPhone not connected to the Flamestower) the Flamestower would hold a fairly steady 5vDC, occasionally dipping to 4.

More and more of our creature comforts depend on being charged (sometimes on a daily basis) and as a result a wide range of outdoor chargers have hit the market using various techniques and giving you high hopes for your next camping/hiking trip.Although I really wanted to like this device upon use I find that is very slow to charge anything at all. Its upper is made from durable premium leather, while GORE-TEX liners create a waterproof barrier around your foot. This means that for phones, it should be able to create somewhere between two and four minutes of talk time for each minute on the charger. Setup takes less than a minute, and charging begins as soon as the reservoir is filled and the FlameStower is in place next to a fire source. Focused on you, the athlete we bring you informative articles and gear reviews about cycling, running, trail running, triathlons and other endurance sports.

Lights: I was also able to successfully charge a Light in Motion Solite 150 headlamp without issue , though it too was painfully slow. From there, FlameStower uses the differential in temperature between the portion in the fire and the relatively cool water to generate electricity, which is then sent through a USB cable and to the user's phone, MP3 player, digital camera, or other device. All of the sections are able to be adjusted for height and angle to accommodate working with many different sizes and shapes of backpacking stoves. In the case of the FlameStower, I believe this is a super simple to use and portable power solution that amounts to a set it and forget it solution. Add just 10 ounces of FlameStower weight to your pack and you'll add unlimited recharges to your small battery-powered outdoor gear. This may not seem too bad at first glance, but since this device is designed to be mainly used with a stove that time equals fuel being needlessly expended for little gain.
