About this deal

One application of Nemaslug will provide at least six weeks control of slugs, we recommend that you re-apply every 6 weeks for the ultimate protection from slugs..

Nemaslug slug nematodes is a natural organic pest control which is environmentally friendly. Slug nematodes are microscopic, transparent worms, which feed and multiply inside the slug. Easy to apply and completely safe to use around children, pets and wildlife, making it the perfect solution for organic gardening. The less common name is Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita These pellets are harmless to mammals but there is one downside – they can be harmful to earthworms. As well as ferric phosphate, the pellets contain chelating agents which are toxic to earthworms that consume them, causing them to feed less, lose weight and die. The power of humble earthworms in maintaining a healthy soil ecosystem is not something to be casually dismissed, so it is essential that gardeners use these pellets responsibly. Application Question: What happens if the temperature falls after I have applied my slug nematodes? The control may be a little slower. However, the nematodes are capable of surviving even the odd frost. The soil temperature should be 5ºC (40ºF) or over (this is also when plants start to grow). Nematodes are capable of surviving the odd frost; so don't worry if the temperature falls after you have applied Nemaslug. Metaldehyde based slug pellets are reported not to be effective below 7ºC. Nemaslug, is a natural organic pest control - environmentally friendly and is 100% safe for children, cats, dogs, other pets and wildlife.

What is Nemaslug?

Simply wash this out on your lawn after you have applied the nematodes, as per the instructions below. Nemaslug uses the nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita. One application of Nemaslug provides 300,000 nematodes for every square metre of soil, giving at least six weeks control of slugs. This is generally enough time for seedlings and bedding plants to get well established.

Slugs treated with Nemaslug will stop feeding in 3 days and die in about a week. The majority of the slugs will die underground, so don’t expect to see dead slugs lying around. Nemaslug should be applied to soils that are at least 5°C. They will survive the odd frost, but applying to hard frozen ground, or prior to a long cold spell will render Nemaslug ineffective. A Soil Thermometer is a great investment. If you apply Nemaslug in the early autumn you will reduce the number of slugs laying eggs and consequently reduce the new population emerging in the spring.Slug nematodes also known as Nemaslug are the perfect natural organic pest control for slugs in your garden or allotment. They are microscopic, transparent worms, which feed and multiply inside the slug. Nemaslug is effective at controlling both slugs and snails, however it is most effective at controlling the slugs that live in the soil, making Nemaslug a fabulous option to use in areas where potatoes or other root crops are grown. Her for tiden er der en del diskussion, om hvorvidt nematoder er sikkre, eller om de udgør en trussel mod andre arter og økosystemer i bredere forstand. Biologisk bekæmpelse med nyttedyr Being ugly, slimy and homeless, slugs have few fans, and seem to come in for the most blame. Meanwhile the snail, with its ingenious and pretty armour, its shy ‘peak a boo’ behaviour and the fact that the shell provides a convenient and dry hand hold for curious humans, has a slighter cuter reputation. However, of the 30 plus species of slugs in Britain, only 4 are really garden pests feeding off living plant material, the remainder prefer munching on dead organic matter. If you have a limey soil, point the finger of blame at snails instead. They prefer calcareous soils which provide the necessary calcium to build their shells. Not so effective on heavy soils Nemaslug is an effective alternative to chemicals. It is safe to use and harmless to children, pets, birds and wildlife.

Nemasys revised their application instructions in May 2016. There is a revised method of application for Nemaslug and the Nemasys range of products. The product is the same as before. The changes are meant to simply the application process and ensure an even dose.
