So far we know that there was a call out for Sewing Bee contestants to apply for the new TV series last year and also that it was filmed in Autumn 2021. In previous years The Great British Sewing Bee has been shown on the BBC in the UK in Spring time, usually around April. If you’ve not come across the Sewing Bee before, take a look below at previous series, Sewing Bee books, interviews with contestants and also our vlogs of each episode where we hunt out the patterns used in each episode! The location of the Sewing Bee studio used to be in London at the Metropolitan Wharf in Bermondsey, but in 2021 the production moved up North to Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, Leeds. The Great British Sewing Bee first hit our screens in 2013 on BBC Two, following the same format as the popular Great British Bake Off. Each episode features three sewing challenges with an overall theme for every episode. In the pattern challenge, every contestant using the same sewing pattern and they must follow the instructions exactly. The second challenge is a Transformation challenge, where the contestants are given second hand garments and must up-cycle them into a brand new outfit. In the final sewing challenge, it tests the contestants ability to create a made-to-measure outfit for a real life model, where the fit must be perfect. Originally from Costa Rica, Maria is a self-taught stitcher and sews to her to unwind after a stressful shift in A&E.She also dabbles in leatherwork and has a passion for making handbags and purses.Maria lives with her partner Tony and, because they both enjoy gardening, she’s nowattempting to make waterproof cushions for her garden furniture.

Episode 9 –In the seventh episode of The Great British Sewing Bee series 9 the contestants are challenged with Japanese Design and Sewing Week. Find the sewing patterns used by the contestants here.

Sewing Bee Episode 7 Guide (semi-final) – This week was all about puzzling patterns pattern cutting. The first task was to sew a asymmetric skirt inspired by Japanese pattern cutting. In the refashioning challenge, the contestants has to create a garment from a duvet and use all the fabric. In the final challenge, the contestants had to draft their own pattern and fit it to a model. Debra began sewing at aged 9, making outfits for her dolls. She is inspired to sew by designers such as Erdem, Gucci and Chanel. She enjoys being active and can often be found sailing and snorkelling off Anglesey. Episode 4– In the fourth episode there are nine contestants remaining, after we sadly said goodbye to Fiona in week three. The sewing bee theme for week four is sportswear. The book will include lots of tips on looking after your clothes and sewing machine along with fitting tips, information on natural and sustainable fibres plus ideas on how to revamp existing clothes. The book is published by Quadrille and was released on the 26th March 2020. In this species series of The Great British Christmas Sewing Bee, the celebrity sewers will be revealed in the next couple of weeks along with the challenges they will face.
